Audience Research and needs and gratifications

My target audience females aged between 16 and 25. The magazine would be suitable to males also but it is predominately focused towards females. This is because the magazine offers a lot of fashion advice as well as upcoming music and artists, therefore these are themes most associated with female of that age range.

My Target audience like to shop in vintage shops and trendy high streets shops that include Topshop, Urban Outfitters and American Apparel. Their favourite styles are boho and festival style fashions.
In their spare time they enjoy going to festivals like Leeds and Reading Festival or T in the Park. They also like reading music and fashion magazines, socialising with their friends and reading books like autobiographies.
They enjoy music of the genre Indie Pop and alternative music; Lana del rey, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Blink 182 and Florence and the Machine.

Their needs and gratifications are carried out following part of Blulmer and Katz theory.

Personal Relationships
My Magazine can form personal relationships because girls interested in the same genres and topics can use this magazine as a form of discussion. My Magazine also has social networking opportunities which also forms digital personal relationships.

Personal Identity
My target audience can empathise with people included inside my magazine. They can find similarities in their own lives within the magazine which will help them become familiar and comfortable with the magazine. With certain interviews with people in my magazine my target audience can resonate and associate themselves with, therefore they can form a personal identity and take advice for their own lives.

Diversion
Reading my magazine will offer diversion with a release of emotional pressure and a form of escapism. The magazine will hopefully excite my target audience for summer with all the festival information and line ups. Plus all the fashion images and tips.
